MIST (Manju)is a novel by MT vasudevan nair, one of the most celebrated writers in malayalam is besr known for his indigenous themes in writing.
This multifaceted personality is a teacher, news editor , story writer  etc.Mist is a novella by MT of a different genre.It is set in a hill station of Nainital and maintains a musical note across iys narration. With minimal characters and few conversations the novella narrates the stiry of vimala a school teacher. She spends her vacation in the loneliness of Mist laden Nainital. Here vimala finds a company in Buddhu as she is also similar position waiting for her long lost friend sudhir kumar misra.

MT has wonderfully portrayed the picturesque beautt of tge hills, mist, snow and the mountains.silence and solitude play a very important role in the novella.The novelist remarks the silence doesn't mean the absebce of sounds but the presence of even the minutest sound. Morover the solitude of vimala is filled with the memories of sudhir and the unending waiting for him.the novella is a poetic piece of work with the use of imageries and the innocence of the nature.
